Who are we

We are the South Midlands Intergroup (SMIG) of Alcoholics Anonymous.

The Intergroup is comprised of Group Service Representatives (GSRs) from AA groups within our area, liaison officers (who work with the various local authorities and services) and Intergroup Officers.

It is the Electronic Communications Liaison Officer (ECLO) who is responsible for the collection and storing data on behalf of this Intergroup.

What information we collect

There are two groups of information that we collect:

AA members‘ contact information

We collect first name and email address of individuals in order to send them emails about AA activities. We collect this information via the Announcements Sign-up form in the footer of this website. This information is securely stored and handled by MailChimp. MailChimp’s privacy policy is available here.

Service officers‘ contact information

We collect the names, email addresses, phone numbers and home addresses of those who volunteer in the South Midlands Intergroup (SMIG). We collect this information via the service registration form on this website and via paper forms that are commonly handed in at Intergroup meetings. This information is securely stored both in MailChimp (see above) and by Krystal (our service provider). Krystal’s privacy policy is available here.

How we share information

AA members’ contact information is NEVER shared with anyone outside of the Intergroup officers.

Service officers’ contact information is shared with the General Service Office (GSO) of Alcoholics Anonymous (UK) in order to allow this office to contact the individuals also. This is primarily by post but can also be via email. The GSO privacy policy is available here.

We NEVER share your information with third parties.

How you can unsubscribe or ask to be forgotten

If you no longer wish to be contacted by email, simply click the “Unsubscribe” link that we include at the bottom of every email we send.

If you wish to have all your information removed permanently, please complete the following form. This request will also be passed automatically to the General Service Office (GSO) of Alcoholics Anonymous.
